Gatlinburg - Gatlinburg Skybridge
πΊπΈ Tennessee Β· United States β Altitude 607 m
This live camera points at the Gatlinburg Skybridge, a long pedestrian span high above the town in the Great Smoky Mountains. It is a useful way to see current conditions over the valley before you plan a walk or a drive into the park.
Gatlinburg sits at the northern edge of Great Smoky Mountains National Park in eastern Tennessee, at roughly 600 metres above sea level. The town is a common starting point for visitors to the park, known for its forested ridges, river valleys and a busy main street lined with shops and restaurants. The surrounding mountains shape the weather, often producing mist in the early morning and quick changes in cloud cover.
The title refers to the skybridge, so the view is most likely centred on that elevated crossing and the slopes around it. Depending on the view, you may see foliage shifting through the seasons, low cloud settling in the valley, or evening lights coming on in town. Clear mornings and the hours just before sunset tend to be the most interesting times to watch.
Spring and autumn are the most popular seasons, with mild temperatures and strong colour in the leaves during October. Summers are warm and humid, and winter can bring snow and icy roads at higher elevations. Nearby cameras include the Summit Webcam and other Gatlinburg views, as well as cameras in Bryson City, about 32 km away, for a wider look at the region.
