Hintereisferner - Vue vers la Hintere Hintereisspitze
🇦🇹 Tyrol · Austria — Altitude 3245 m
This camera looks out over the Hintereisferner, one of the larger glaciers in the Ötztal Alps, at an altitude of about 3,245 metres. It is a useful window onto high mountain conditions, with the live picture showing how the ice and surrounding peaks look at the moment.
Hintereisferner lies in the Ötztal Alps in Tyrol, close to the Austrian and Italian border region of South Tyrol. It is one of the best-known glaciers in the Eastern Alps and has long been studied for its retreat and its response to climate change. The landscape is stark and open, with rock, snowfields and ice dominating the scene, and the air is thin and cold even in summer.
The camera is pointed toward the Hintere Hintereisspitze, so the view is mainly of rock ridges, snow and glacier ice. Clear mornings tend to give the sharpest light on the peaks, while afternoon cloud often builds over the summits. Changing weather is the main thing to follow here, since cloud can roll in quickly and hide the view for hours at a time.
The area is best visited from late June to September, when access routes are typically open and snow cover is at its lowest. Mountain weather can change within an hour, and temperatures at this height stay low even in midsummer, so warm layers are worth having. Other cameras in the wider area, including the Weißkugel and Langtaufererspitze view and the Schnalstal glacier cable car, show nearby high country from different angles.

The current conditions and a three-day forecast are shown in the live weather block on this page. Because the glacier sits at high altitude, temperatures and cloud cover can differ a lot from the valleys below.
The local time is displayed on the page and updates automatically, so you can see whether it is day or night at the glacier before you watch the stream.
The camera is in the Ötztal Alps in Tyrol, Austria, at roughly 3,245 metres above sea level. The map on this page marks its position and shows the nearby cameras.
Clear weather in the morning and summer months usually give the most visible detail on the peaks and ice. Check the live stream during the day, as cloud often moves in later.
