This live camera looks out over Yangmingshan National Park, a volcanic upland just north of Taipei. Check the feed to judge cloud and visibility over the hills before planning a walk or a drive up the mountain.
Yangmingshan sits in the hills north of Taipei and is part of a national park shaped by old volcanic activity. Its slopes hold grassland, fumaroles, hot springs and woodland, and the elevation of this camera site, about 775 metres, places it well above the city. The park is known for its seasonal flowers and open views on clear days, and it is a popular escape from the urban heat below.
The feed shows the mountain landscape as it changes through the day, so it is most useful for checking cloud cover, mist and visibility. Mornings are often clearer before clouds build up, while afternoons can bring fog rolling over the ridges. Watching the sky before you set out helps you decide whether the views will be worth the trip.
Taiwan has a subtropical climate, and the hills are cooler and often wetter than the city, so bring a layer and rain protection. Spring and autumn are generally the most pleasant seasons for walking. Several other cameras in the region, including views of Taipei and the Bali Left Bank, are close by and make good companions for comparing conditions across the area.
