🇩🇪 Bavaria · Germany — Altitude 1130 m
This camera looks out from the departure station of the Bavarian Zugspitze cable car, at the foot of Germany's highest mountain. It is useful for seeing how conditions look at the base before heading up, whether the peak is clear or covered in cloud.
The Zugspitze is the highest mountain in Germany, rising above the border region between Bavaria and Tyrol near Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The station sits at about 1130 metres, in a landscape of forests, limestone walls and high alpine meadows. The area is known for winter sports, hiking and the views from the summit over the Alps.
Depending on the view, you may see the cable car station, the approach to the lift and the mountain slopes rising behind it. Clear mornings tend to show the most of the peak, while afternoon cloud often builds up over the summits. In winter the slopes are busiest during good snow days, and in summer the stream of hikers and cars is most visible on weekends.
The Zugspitze area has a mountain climate, with cold winters, heavy snowfall and mild but changeable summers. Conditions can differ sharply between the valley and the summit, so check the live weather here before you travel. Nearby cameras include the Eibsee hotel view, the Eibsee cable car tower, Grainau village and the Höllental valley view to the east.
