Andros - Stenies Andros South View

🇬🇷 South Aegean · Greece — Altitude 150 m

Local time UTC+2Checked 0 viewsHDOther

This live camera looks at the southern side of Andros, the northernmost of the Cyclades, from the village of Stenies. It is a practical way to check how the Aegean looks and how the wind is moving before planning a day on the water or a trip across from Athens.

About Stenies and Andros

Andros is green and hilly compared with many of its Cycladic neighbours, with stone villages, terraced slopes and a more wooded character in places. Stenies sits inland from the coast at around 150 metres above sea level, and the island is known for its quiet pace, traditional architecture and a slower, less crowded feel than the busier islands to the south.

What to watch and when

The view is a live feed from a fixed position, so the sea, sky and light change through the day. Early morning and late afternoon usually give the softest light and the clearest contrast between water and land. Watch for wind on the surface of the sea, which is a good indicator of conditions for sailing or ferry crossings, and for cloud building over the hills in summer.

Climate and getting around

Andros has hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters, and the sea is at its warmest from July to September. Spring and early autumn are often the most comfortable months for walking. Ferries run from Rafina and Oropos, and the island is also reached by ferry from nearby islands such as Tinos, and nearby cameras at Gavrio and Andros harbour show other parts of the island.
