🇮🇸 East Iceland · Iceland — Altitude 18 m
This live stream looks out over Jokulsarlon, the glacier lagoon at the edge of Vatnajokull in southeast Iceland. Icebergs break off the glacier and drift slowly toward the sea, so the view changes constantly. It is a useful check before planning a trip along the Ring Road.
Jokulsarlon sits in the south-east of Iceland, where meltwater from the Vatnajokull ice cap collects in a deep lake before flowing to the Atlantic. The lagoon is known for its floating blue icebergs and the black volcanic sand of the nearby beach. The surrounding landscape is wide, flat and dominated by glacier tongues and distant mountains.
Because the camera is a live stream, you can see the lagoon as it is now, whatever the light and weather. Depending on the angle, you may see icebergs moving, mist over the water or cloud lifting from the glacier. Early morning and late evening are often the most dramatic, when low sun lights the ice, though visibility depends on the weather at the time.
Iceland's weather changes quickly, and winds around the lagoon can be strong even when the forecast looks mild. Summer offers long daylight and the easiest road access, while winter brings darker days and icy conditions. Nearby cameras in the region include Langihryggur, Katla and Akureyri, which are useful for comparing conditions across the country.

The local time for the lagoon is shown on this page. Iceland uses the same time all year round, so the displayed time is the time on the ground.
The camera looks out over the glacier lagoon in southeast Iceland, near Vatnajokull. The map on this page shows its position relative to the Ring Road and the surrounding area.
Many people watch in the early morning or late evening, when the light is low and the icebergs stand out. Clear weather gives the best view, so the live image and forecast together are the best guide.
