This live camera looks out from the mountain station of the Florian lift above Seis am Schlern in South Tyrol. It is useful for checking how the Dolomite slopes look before you travel or head up for the day. The page also shows local time and the current forecast for the area.

About Seis am Schlern

Seis am Schlern, known in Italian as Siusi allo Sciliar, is the largest alpine village in Europe and sits at the foot of the Schlern massif in the province of Bolzano. The Alpe di Siusi, Europe's largest high-altitude alpine meadow, begins just above it. The landscape combines open pastures, larch woods and sharp Dolomite rock faces, and the village is a traditional base for hiking and summer and winter outdoor life in the region.

What the camera shows

The camera is placed at a mountain station, so the picture is about the slopes, the lift line and the weather moving over the high meadows. Its title names a lift station rather than a specific peak, so it is best to check the live image for exact details. Views are often most interesting in the morning when the peaks are clear and in late afternoon when the light warms the rock. Cloud and fog can roll over the plateau quickly, which is worth watching if you are planning a walk.

Practical notes and nearby views

Summers are mild on the plateau and winters are cold with reliable snow, while the valley below is warmer. The best time to visit for walking is usually June to September, and autumn brings clear air and golden larches. Nearby cameras on VizCams cover Seiseralm Punta d'Oro, Forcella del Sassolungo in Val Gardena, Monte Pana in St. Christina and Cittร  dei Sassi in Val Gardena, which help you compare conditions across the area.
