🇰🇿 Astana · Kazakhstan — Altitude 352 m
This live camera looks at Khan Shatyr, the tent-shaped landmark in the centre of Astana. Watch the stream to see how the city looks right now and check the local weather before you plan a visit to the capital.
Astana became Kazakhstan's capital in 1997 and has grown into a city of modern architecture set on the open steppe of the north. Khan Shatyr is one of its best-known structures, a large translucent tent designed by Norman Foster that houses shops, leisure facilities and a beach area under its roof. The city sits at an altitude of roughly 350 metres, and its skyline is a deliberate mix of glass, steel and government buildings along the Yesil River.
The view is centred on the Khan Shatyr landmark, so the tent's shape and the surrounding boulevards are the main subjects. Daylight shows the structure's translucent cladding at its best, while evening hours can be atmospheric as the building lights up. Weather changes the scene a great deal: clear summer days give bright views, whereas winter snow and low sun bring a quieter, more dramatic look over the steppe horizon.
Astana has a continental climate with long, cold winters and warm summers, and temperatures can swing widely between seasons. Late spring through early autumn is the most comfortable time to visit. The city has an international airport and is well connected by rail and road. This page has only one camera in the region, so for wider views of the capital, check the live weather and time shown below the stream.
