This live camera looks out from the SLS Cancun area on the Caribbean shore of Quintana Roo. It is a useful way to check how the sea and sky look before you plan a day on the beach. The page also shows local time and the current weather for Cancún.
Cancún sits on a narrow strip of sand between the Caribbean Sea and the Nichupté lagoon, on the northeastern tip of the Yucatán Peninsula. It grew from a planned resort area in the 1970s and is now one of Mexico's best-known holiday destinations. The water is famous for its turquoise tones, and the coast is lined with hotels, restaurants and white sand beaches.
Depending on the view, you may see the sea surface, beach activity, passing clouds and the changing colour of the water. Mornings are often calm and clear, while afternoons can bring sudden showers that pass quickly. Sunrise and late afternoon are good moments to watch the light on the water.
Cancún is warm all year, with average temperatures around 26 to 28 °C. The rainy season runs roughly from June to November, and hurricane season peaks in late summer, so check forecasts before travelling. The cooler and drier months from December to April are popular with visitors. Nearby cameras on this site cover Isla Mujeres, Playa Mujeres and the Riviera Maya coast to the south.
