๐ณ๐ต Himalayas ยท Nepal โ Altitude 4900 m
This live camera looks out over Khare, a high mountain settlement in the Everest region of Nepal at about 4900 metres. It suits anyone curious about Himalayan conditions as they happen, from clouds rolling over the peaks to the light changing through the day.
Khare sits in the Khumbu area of the Himalayas, a region known as the approach route to Mount Everest and its neighbouring summits. The landscape is steep, rocky and sparsely populated, with stone-built villages, glacier-fed valleys and views dominated by high peaks. Life here is shaped by altitude, and the air is thin and cold for most of the year.
Depending on the view, the stream may show peaks, ridges and sky above the valley. Mornings often bring the clearest air and the best chance of unobstructed summits, while afternoons can bring cloud build-up. Changes in snow cover and weather are most visible from season to season, so checking the live feed at different times gives a useful picture.
The area has a strongly seasonal climate. Spring and autumn are generally considered the most stable periods for trekking, while winter is very cold with heavy snow at height and the monsoon brings rain and cloud to the lower valleys. Visitors usually reach the region by flight to Lukla and then trek on foot, so conditions along the trail matter as much as the forecast here. Nearby cameras include Dingboche, Lobuche and Gorakshep.

Clear mornings tend to give the most distinct view of the peaks, and spring and autumn are the seasons when the sky is often clearest. Cloud can cover the mountains at any time, so it is worth checking back.
