Lake Arrowhead
πΊπΈ California Β· United States β Altitude 1614 m
This live camera looks toward Lake Arrowhead, a mountain lake in the San Bernardino Mountains of Southern California. Watch current conditions over the water and the surrounding pine-covered slopes before deciding on a drive up the mountain.
Lake Arrowhead sits at roughly 1,600 metres in the San Bernardino Mountains, a short climb above the dry valleys of the Inland Empire east of Los Angeles. The lake is an artificial reservoir created in the early twentieth century and is ringed by a resort community of homes, shops and lakeside paths. The setting is mostly conifer forest, which makes it noticeably cooler and greener than the lowlands below.
Because the camera is aimed at a natural landscape, the most useful things to check are the light on the water, cloud cover over the ridges and whether the slopes look clear or hazy. Mornings are often calm and quiet on the lake, while afternoons can bring wind and more boat traffic in warmer months. Winter storms can add snow to the mountains, so the view changes noticeably between seasons.
Summers are warm and dry at the lake, and winters are cool with occasional snow and frequent rain. Late spring and early autumn tend to be the most comfortable times to visit. The drive from Los Angeles usually takes one to two hours depending on traffic. Nearby cameras on this site include Running Springs, about 9 km away, and Big Bear's Goldmine Mountain view, about 30 km away.
