This live stream looks over the Copper Mountain ski resort in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Check it to see how much snow is on the slopes and what the conditions look like before you head up the mountain.
Copper Mountain sits in the Ten Mile Range of central Colorado, on the high side of the Tenmile Valley near the Interstate 70 corridor. The resort rises to roughly 2,960 metres and is one of the larger ski areas in the state, known for its wide groomed runs and its snowboard and freestyle terrain. In summer the same valleys draw hikers and mountain bikers, and the scenery of pine forest and alpine ridgelines changes noticeably with the seasons.
The camera is most useful in winter, when you can judge snow cover, cloud and visibility on the mountain. Mornings after fresh snowfall tend to show the cleanest view, while afternoon clouds often build over the peaks. In warmer months, the view can help you judge whether summer storms are forming, which are common at altitude in the afternoon. Conditions can change quickly, so the live weather block on this page is worth checking alongside the picture.
The area has a dry, high-altitude climate with cold winters, heavy snowfall in the ski season and mild, sunny summers with cool nights. Days can be warm and nights cold even in summer, so pack layers. Copper Mountain is reached by road from Denver in a few hours, and the nearby towns of Breckenridge and Frisco are within a short drive, so you can compare conditions across the valley using the other cameras listed below.
