Porto Vecchio - Port de Commerce
🇫🇷 Corsica · France — Altitude 5 m
This live stream looks over the commercial harbour of Porto Vecchio, on the southeast coast of Corsica. It is a quick way to see how the port is working and what the sea is doing before you plan a trip along this part of the island. The page also gives you the local time and current conditions next to the picture.
Porto Vecchio sits on a deep inlet on Corsica's southeast coast, a short drive from the island's best-known beaches. The old town rises above the water with its citadel-style walls, and the gulf is sheltered enough to make it a traditional anchorage. Corsica's mix of mountains and sea is visible from almost every point in the town, which gives the harbour a calm, working character compared with the busier resorts nearby.
Because the camera shows a commercial port, the most interesting moments tend to be arrivals and departures of boats, ferry-style traffic and the movement of the water in the basin. Activity usually picks up in the morning and early evening. In summer the harbour is busier and the light over the gulf is strongest in the late afternoon, while winter views are quieter and often clearer.
Porto Vecchio has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild, wetter winters. The best time to visit is late spring or early autumn, when the sea is warm and crowds are smaller. The town is a short drive from the Santa Giulia and Paese Serenu areas, both of which have their own cameras on VizCams.
